There's a huge selection of accommodation in Orlando matching every budget and taste. These range from self catering villas to hotels and budget motels. In the second part of her blog post from Orlando, Catherine gives us the heads up
Self Catering Florida Style
Orlando offers a fantastic array of private homes, or vacation rentals as they are known in the USA. A lot these offer high end accommodation on quality, sometimes gated communities. If you intend to book a vacation rental you'll ideally want to know on which community your home is located. Unfortunately, most travel companies won't specify the community your home/villa is on at the time of booking, instead preferring to assign a property on your arrival in Florida. However, if you can find out exactly where you're staying we strongly recommend that you do so as it can make an enormous difference to your holiday. Most homes on offer are located in the and Kissimmee area are within approximately twenty minutes drive of Walt Disney World Resort and this seems to be a good yardstick with which to measure the calibre of any vacation home. It's worth remembering that you'll be going to the parks, attractions and shops fairly regularly and so minimising the driving will definitely benefit the holiday.
However, if your budget won't stretch to a vacation rental, then one of the many hotels on offer should more than meet your needs. The hotels in Orlando are mainly located on International drive, Disney World resort, Lake Buena Vista, Kissimme and Universal Orlando Resort.
The International Drive hotels are situated in the very centre of the leading Florida attractions so you wont have to stray far from any of the hotels. International Drive, or ‘I Drive' as it's known, runs from Orlando in the north to Orange County in the south and connects the major Orlando theme parks. It's also worth remembering that there is also plenty to do outside of the theme parks, including visits to ranches with rodeo shows, top-class golf courses and of course you can't miss the hundreds of outlet stores that exist around the city.
Disney World Resort
Every child dreams of visiting Mickey Mouse at Disney World in Florida. The beauty of staying at the Disney World Resort is that Mickey is often on hand at your hotel. Another great thing is that Disney holiday's are great value at the moment. So, if you have young children, now might be the time to consider a Disney based holiday.
Additionally, when you book a Disney package holiday, the theme parks, restaurants and entertainment venues are all around where you are staying and easily accessed by Disney's free bus system. Plus, there are a host of additional benefits to be gained by staying in a Disney Resort Hotel.
Lake Buena Vista
The Lake Buena Vista hotels are located right amongst all the action and with the major theme parks close by, you won't need to stray far from your hotel. Lake Buena Vista is home to lots of shops, restaurants, fabulous nightlife, and theatres, plus during the day the Buena Vista Factory Stores are a must see.
Aside from offering most of the vacation rental properties on offer in the Orlando area, Kissimmee has a host of hotels a lot of which are located on the northwest shore of Lake Tohopekaliga and very close to Walt Disney World Resort, SeaWorld and Universal Orlando Resort and wherever you stay you can be sure to find excellent facilities and services offered by the hotels. Kissimmee boasts plenty of restaurants, particularly the newly opened ones located on the U. S. Highway 192. The flea markets located along the main road in Kissimmee are also worth a visit, as is the Old Town Boulevard with over 70 speciality shops and rides.
Universal Orlando Resort
Like the Disney resort, Universal Orlando Resort is a great holiday destination encompassing two of Orlando's leading theme parks - Universal Studios and Universal's Islands of Adventure. Guests staying at any of the resort's hotels also enjoy exclusive benefits. Our choice if you stay here would be the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. And if you do stay at a hotel on the Universal Orlando Resort, be sure to check out Universal CityWalk of an evening. It can be fun down there with lots of shops, amusements and restaurants.
And, if you're looking for accommodation, then you'll want to check out our Kissimmee properties as they're only a stone's throw from all of the action..
