Things to do in Florida that don't involve a theme park
Florida Fresh Water Springs
These are my personal favourite places to visit in Florida. We took the family to Blue Spring State park where we spent hours floating down the fresh water spring, saw mazing wildlife including turtle and manatees. They also had kayaking, BBQ and picnic areas. There's a huge list of things to do here so check out the park website. It only took about an hour's car ride from Kissimmee and was only $6 entrance fee. Its well worth a visit, even in the summer (we went very early to avoid the afternoon heat). So check out all the Florida Fresh Water Springs to find your next adventure.
Sunset Kayaking with Bioluminescence
For the more adventurous family, this is a lovely trip and can be done close to Orlando. You get to see algae and other micro organisms glowing in the dark or in the moonlight. The tours set off at around 8:30pm and last for an hour and half (approx). There are many places to do this and are a magical way to experience the lakes around Orlando. You don't need to be an avid water fan as you'll have a tour guide and its easy to do! So check this out for your night time adventure for an experience to talk about when you get home.
Skimming over the water in the everglades, with the breeze in your face with wild life all around you, is another fun way to experience adventure in Florida. There are many companies who specialise in providing airboat or other boating trips so you'll find something to suit your family's interests. So check out your airboat adventure , there'll be pictures and experiences to impress your friends and relatives.
