How to Survive the Terror of Halloween Horror Night
Halloween Horror Night , the nation's premier Halloween event, puts you right into some of the most heart-pounding moments in horror history. On select nights from September 15th through November 4th, 2017, the streets of Universal Studios Florida theme park come alive with hordes of horrifying mutants, monsters and maniacs. With over 25 years of experience to draw from, nobody creates a more nightmarish Halloween event filled with truly original scares and authentic horror movie moments. You can explore terrifying haunted houses, make your way through multiple scare zones where creatures lurk around every turn, enjoy outrageous live shows, and experience many of the park's most exciting rides and attractions. Explore nine terrifying haunted houses, brave five creature-filled scare zones, enjoy two outrageous live shows, and experience many of the park's most exciting rides and attractions.
Without doubt, the haunted houses are the primary attractions for the event. The haunted houses are best described as ‘movie-set quality' recreations of fantastic and fearsome locations. Sometimes referred as mazes, each haunted house is indoors, often set up in the unused queue area of a daytime attraction or one of the Universal soundstages. These haunted houses rely on every effect you can imagine to scare the pants off you, including hideous creatures, blood-curdling sound effects, loud music, tight passages, strobe lights, air bursts, mirror effects, and, of course, very elaborate – and in many cases very gruesome – props and set decoration.
Stopping you mid-breath as you walk between attractions, scare zones are essentially outdoor haunted houses set up in open areas around the Universal Studios Florida (for example, in the street area of New York, in front of Revenge of the Mummy). The decorations and effects are usually not quite as elaborate as the haunted houses, but there are still many effects employed to elicit screams from unsuspecting guests.
Stanley Kubrick's ‘ The Shining ' remains one of the greatest horror films of all time and now Halloween Horror Nights 2017 features ‘The Overlook Hotel'. Within its walls, you'll experience some of the scariest moments in cinematic history. Face The Grady Twins and experience Danny Torrance's blood-soaked premonitions first-hand. It's ‘all work and no play' as an axe-wielding Jack Torrance pursues you through a snow-covered hedge maze. The visually intense psychological thriller is now the most terrifying haunted experience imaginable.
The popular FX show, American Horror Story, will be returning to Halloween Horror Nights 27. The haunted house will feature content from season two: ‘Asylum', season three: ‘Coven' and season six: ‘Roanoke'. This will be the ‘uber-maze' for this year.
Master craftsman ‘ Jigsaw ' returns to Halloween Horror Nights with a new collection of traps, including some from the latest installment of the ‘SAW' series, ‘JIGSAW', which opens on Oct. 27, 2017. The house will also feature some of the most twisted traps from all eight of the ‘SAW' movies.
The STARZ original series, ‘Ash vs Evil Dead', expertly blurs the line between horror and comedy. You'll get both bloody, campy seasons in this house. Emphasis on bloody!. Try and keep up with Ash as he battles demons and deadites armed with his fueled chainsaw. You'll howl with terror and laughter as you witness carnage, mayhem and gut-busting one-liners. When you're face-to-face with evil, you better have a wicked sense of humor. But you'll need more than well-aimed wisecracks as stomach-turning, tentacle-like intestines pursue you and Ash in the morgue and at the cabin in the woods. It's a scream.
The quietest Halloween Horror Night is Wednesday. Saturdays are the busiest with Friday only a little less busy than Saturday.
